Telling the Stories of the City: Writing Creative Non-Fiction

Course description

Through an introduction to creative writing techniques and the personal essay form, you’ll explore and develop your conscious connection to places where you’ve lived, including Toronto’s natural-urban landscape. Activities such as field trips, readings and journaling will help you find your voice and develop stories that only you can tell.

Mandy Pipher

Mandy is a writer whose op-eds and personal essays appear regularly in the Toronto Star. You can find her in the writing centres at UC and Rotman Commerce—and, of course, Innis, where she has taught writing since 2018. She holds a master’s degree in English Language from the University of Oxford.
