A documentary about Maya Lin, who won the design competition for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC as a 21 year old Chinese American Yale architect student. The film tells the gripping story of her design of the memorial, and explores a decade of her work as an architect and sculptor.

This award-winning documentary delves deep into how Maya’s work relates to war, race, women, peace and ecology, and dramatizes her ability to address major issues of the time through the healing power of art.

Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Freida Lee Mock is a director, writer and producer of documentary shorts and features. Her Oscar nominees include Rose Kennedy, a Life to Remember (1990); SING! (2001), about a world renowned children’s choir; Never Give Up: The 20th Century Odyssey of Herbert Zipper (1995), about the conductor and holocaust survivor Dr. Herbert Zipper; and To Live or Let Die (1982), a story about medical ethics in an ICU for new born babies. Freida’s newest film Ruth: Justice Ginsburg in Her Own Words launched globally to critical claim in February, 2021.

Freida received the AFI Guggenheim Honor, the International Documentary Association Career Achievement Award, the Cascadia International Women’s Award and the Doclands Honor.
