Habibis of all ages are welcome.
The evening will begin at 6 pm with a welcome reception featuring sweet and savoury treats and fun activities. We then move into the theatre where we will be screening three thoughtfully curated short films – Palestine 87 by Bilal Alkhatib, By the Sea by Wisam Al Jafari, and Bonboné by Rakan Mayasi – centred around Palestinian love and resistance; interwoven with a captivating storytelling session led by Sarah Abu-Sharar, and a live musical performance of Arabic songs of love by Yehia.
The event is co-presented by our friends at Cinema Studies Institute at UofT.
Acclaimed storyteller Sarah Abu-Sharar will guide us through traditional Palestinian folktales of wisdom, love, and resilience passed down from our ancestors.
Toronto-based Egyptian musician Yehia is a singer-songwriter whose music blends Arabic storytelling with Western folk and indie influences. His songs explore identity, nostalgia, and belonging through warm melodies, poetic lyricism, and simple, honest arrangements.
