Course description
You’ll be introduced to the concept of the city as a creative environment promoting not only growth and wealth, but also social justice, equality, cooperation, and civility. You’ll learn to build your own blog to help you observe, interpret, and reflect upon the process of urban interaction and the relationship between creativity and justice.

H.G. Watson
H.G. Watson is a writer based in Toronto. She’s done a little bit of every job you can have in journalism.
Her work has appeared in The Guardian, Vice, Toronto Life, Toronto Star, Canadian Business, Chatelaine, The Narwhal, and many more. She has a newsletter called Plucky, where she writes about media and feminism. She’s also researching a book about the teen mags of the 90s and 00s.
Watson launched the Indie Publisher newsletter for Indiegraf in 2020. And she was the managing editor of J-Source for three years.
Watson teaching post-secondary journalism and writing across Toronto, including advanced courses on multimedia production and creative nonfiction.
In 2025, Watson graduated from the Stonecoast MFA program in creative writing at the University of Southern Maine. When she’s not writing or reading, you can find her hiking or walking her dog around Toronto.
