If An Owl Calls Your Name Toronto Premiere

December 8
 @ 7:00 pm
 - 10:00 pm

If An Owl Calls Your Name screening with executive producer Patricia June Vickers on Monday, December 8 at 6pm on Innis Town Hall. It is releasing in early December this year and we have a line-up of live events before the film is available for free online.

We would love the opportunity to share this event throughout your department to have some students join us for the film and following discussion. It will be a great opportunity to meet many Toronto artists and filmmakers. We are a non-profit organization, so 50% of proceeds after film production costs directly fund Indigenous-led initiatives in the featured communities. In the case of this film, the funds will be going to Dinï Ze’ Na’Moks & Yintah Access camp. I would be happy to set any tickets aside for students who are not able to donate.

The summary for the film below:
Patricia June Vickers, her brother Roy Henry Vickers, along with other Indigenous elders, healers, and activists from the Esk’etemc, Gitxsan, and Wet’suwet’en territories reflect upon their lives as forcefully assimilated Canadians. The effects of intergenerational trauma echo through the voices of residential school survivors and their children as they heal from substance abuse, violence, and disconnect from their culture.

Through connection to land, ancestral wisdom, and ceremonial healing they transform darkness into forgiveness and inner reconciliation. Prayers beyond religion, these stories echo a universal yearning for belonging and the sacredness of all life
