How to Book an Appointment

All appointments are 50 minutes long. You can book or cancel an appointment using our online service. Start by logging in using your UTORid and password (the same ID and password you use for UTOR mail) and then you will be redirected to the online system.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

A copy of your assignment sheet/instructions, if one was given to you, and
A paper copy of your work on the assignment so far; we will not work on screen.

If you are a first-year student, you are encouraged to bring in an essay you wrote in high school. A writing instructor will talk to you about the expectations of university-level writing, and they will identify both the strengths and weaknesses of your prose.

Appointment Cancellation/Missed Appointment Policy

You can cancel an appointment at any time by using the online booking system. You must cancel any appointment that you will not be using at least a day before so that we can give it to another student. Appointments are in high demand; often, we have a waiting list. If you simply fail to show up for an appointment, it goes wasted. And if you do this twice, you will be barred from getting further appointments at the Writing Centre for the remainder of the academic year.

The Innis Writing Centre operates out of Rooms 315 and 321 within Innis College. Take the stairs on the West end of the building, above the library, to the third floor. Alternatively, you can take the elevator.

Mobile Appointment Notices

Appointment notices can now be sent as text messages to your mobile device! To begin receiving text notices, please add your mobile account number and carrier to the information in your Account Preferences. You will still receive email notices in addition to your text notices.

The Writing Centre online booking system has a new responsive layout for mobile devices. We hope you enjoy the system’s new features.
