Director Joy Sela’s inspirational documentary offers a rare note of optimism in a society that is deeply polarized by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Over the course of several years, Sela follows Israeli and Palestinian subjects working toward peace. Divided into two parts, before and after October 7, the film interviews bereaved parents, political leaders, artists and activists who have been at the forefront of the peace movement during the last fifteen years, offering a window into how their efforts have now been challenged. Emphasizing the importance of being open to diverse narratives, Sela demonstrates that a dialogue with “the Other” is not just possible, but positively essential in the face of deepening political turmoil.
