Since graduating from Innis College two years ago, Mariel Terebeznik (HBSc ’20) has, impressively, completed an MSc in ecology and evolutionary biology and co-founded a non-profit access program for historically marginalized students pursuing field research.

In its pilot year, Field Research in Ecology and Evolution Diversified (FREED) connected Black and Indigenous students and students of colour — from U of T and Western University — to a paid, weeklong research opportunity in Algonquin Park. Owing to its success, planning for summer 2023 is underway.
