Innis alum and good friend Al-Amin Ahamed (HBSc ’20 Innis) has been named a 2024 McCall MacBain Scholar at McGill University. A current Doctor of Pharmacy candidate at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, Al will next pursue a Master of Public Policy at McGill, with the goal of making drug policy more equitable.
The McCall MacBain Scholarship is offered to just thirty students per year who are pursuing masters or professional degrees at McGill. Scholars are selected based on their community-oriented outlook, academic achievement, innovative approach to learning, and commitment to affecting positive change. The goal of the scholarship program is to provide recipients opportunities to “lead with purpose” through their studies.
Al was a highly engaged leader during their time at Innis, including serving as an orientation coordinator and residence don. Al has consistently embodied the welcoming Innis spirit, leading with purpose and compassion. After graduating with honours in 2020, Al went on to pursue a post-graduate degree in pharmacy, and serve as president of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Society and PharmaPride and as VP – professional faculties with UTSU.
We thank Al for their contributions to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the Innis and U of T communities. We’re excited to see all they’ll achieve in the future!
