Innis Residence turns 30 this year. Join your old suitemates on a residence building tour, led by current and past dons between 1–3pm. Tour groups will depart every 20 minutes and will operate on a first come, first served basis. We will also hold a draw to spend the night in the residence!
2024 marks 50 years for the Urban Studies Program at Innis College. At 2:30pm we will bring together esteemed city builders, from a range of sectors, to help answer the question: How can we solve Canada’s housing crisis? Panelists include Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, former Toronto Chief Planner Gregg Lintern (HBA ’84 Innis, Urban Studies), Stormont Partners founder and CEO Greg Kalil (BA ’83 Innis), and U of T urbanist Dr. Emily Paradis. 
Innis College celebrates its 60th anniversary this year! At 4pm, head over to the Innis Residence Quad for a BBQ with food, refreshments, lawn games, and live music by The Lowest of the Low founding member, Stephen Stanley (BA ’87 Innis, Cinema Studies). Reconnect with five Innis principals: Charlie Keil, Janet Paterson, John Browne, Dennis Duffy, and Bill Saywell. A special tree planting will take place to honour all of our college’s principals from the past six decades.
How do we solve Canada’s housing crisis? Our nation’s housing market is critically undersupplied. We must produce 3.5 million more housing units than are currently in the delivery pipeline by 2030 to restore housing affordability (Canada and Housing Corp., 2022). One in three Toronto homeowners and renters experience affordability issues. For every new affordable unit built in Toronto, it is estimated that 15 existing private affordable units are lost.
On June 1, 2024, Innis College’s Urban Studies Program will bring together esteemed city builders, from a range of sectors, to host a multipronged discussion and Q&A on Toronto’s housing affordability crisis. Panelists will share their top programs, policies, and professional opinions that could help move the needle on the crisis in different sectors and make living in our cities more affordable and equitable. Panelists include Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, former Toronto Chief Planner Gregg Lintern, Stormont Partners Founder and CEO Greg Kalil, and U of T urbanist Dr. Emily Paradis.
