About FIRST Film Festival:

The “FIRST Film Festival” brands include the Xining FIRST Youth Film Festival, which focuses on the early works of filmmakers, and the FIRST Surprise Film Festival, which focuses on fantasy and genre film culture. With the film festival as the narrative space, it lays out a variety of art industries such as film production, creative vision and digital art, gathers talented filmmakers to fully integrate and practice with new technology, music, digital art and other fields, stimulates the public’s artistic imagination, and expands the boundaries of real life.

About Active Screenings

“The fate of movies is to be watched”

Active screening is a permanent film cultural exchange label of the FIRST Film Festival, which provides a matrix of young filmmakers’ works outside the mainstream vision in the form of non-profit offline public welfare screenings, and projects works with independent creative spirit and different aesthetic paradigms on a wider screen, actively approaching and looking for new audiences, reviving fan film culture, and building a more diverse film discussion scene. With an active attitude, the mission of screening, the ritualized arrival in the context of watching the movie, the viewing resonance and aesthetic experience in the confined space, fully explore the “aesthetic education effect” of FIRST active screening.
