Indigenous Writers Day: Reading, Interview & Book Signing

June 12, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The JHI is thrilled to announce that author Amanda Peters will join us for the inaugural Indigenous Writers Day on June 12. Her debut novel, The Berry Pickers is a riveting story about the search for truth, the shadow of trauma, and the persistence of love across time.

At noon, Amanda will lead a workshop for students exploring how North American Indigenous writers and storytellers are resisting the colonization of story and how both Indigenous and non-Indigenous found forms can be used to tell sometimes difficult stories.

In the evening, the public is welcome to join us as Amanda reads from The Berry Pickers and takes questions from the audience. After the reading she’ll be available to sign books.

Amanda Peters is a writer of Mi’kmaq and European ancestry who was born and raised in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.

This event is free and registration is not necessary.
